Abstract

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 16:6–12

“For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7

Have you ever felt overlooked?

Have you ever watched others receive opportunities while you were passed by? Have you ever felt forgotten, ignored, underestimated, or unappreciated?

If so, you are not alone.

David knew exactly what that felt like.

When the prophet Samuel arrived at Jesse’s house to anoint the next king of Israel, everyone assumed one of David’s older brothers would be chosen. They appeared stronger, taller, more experienced, and more impressive.

Even Samuel himself was initially impressed by Eliab.

But God had a different perspective.

God was not looking for the strongest man in the room.

He was looking for the right heart.
